Meat Species Testing

MEAT SPECIES TESTING

Meat species adulteration is a problem for consumers, industries and regulatory agencies at different levels of the production process. Fraudulent labelling is often used to sell cheaper meat as if it was from more profitable and desirable species. The 2013 horse meat scandal was a landmark example of such adulterations.

The identification of species in meat products is also of paramount importance for guaranteeing religious beliefs (e.g., halal and kosher specifications).

Our kits and services detects meat from beef, pork, horse, lamb, goat, turkey, chicken, duck, etc. in raw products or processed food.
