Neurospora crassa mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) qPCR assay
The IDENTIFICA NeurosporaMt Kit allows the relative quantiﬁcation of Neurospora crassa (N. crassa) mtDNA. The ﬁlamentous fungus N. crassa is a popular model organism used in a wide range of biochemical and genetic studies and vastly used in mitochondrial research. The kit includes two sets of qPCR primers targeting different regions of the mitochondrial genome, using the nuclear genome as reference. The kit was optimized in strains from different geographical locations, representing the vast genetic diversity of this species, and knockout mutant strains. This kit facilitates the characterization of mtDNA of N. crassa and can be used as a tool to validate methods of mitochondria isolation.
